Stone built Snowdonia type with gable end chimney. Parlour wing, possibly of earlier date has a mutilated plaster overmantle with part of a shield bearing the coat of arms of Collwyn ap Tangno Doc refs: to 1583; No mural stair.

Tall, fully storeyed house of gentry status of classic 2 unit Snowdonian type with end chimney & (lost) fireplace stair. Ovolo-moulded window.

1618 Parc Gatws, Llanfrothen, Mer.  

 Stone-built storeyed one room over another; dated principal rafters, purlin,collar, & transverse beam.

1654/5  Y Parc, Llanfrothen, Mer

I Classic example of unit-system. Subsidiary house (3), set corner to corner with House (2) (Ruined & possibly earlier. House (1), sixteenth century demolished. Dated transverse beams & lintel.

Classic example of unit-system. Present principal house (4). Felling dates:

1660, 1668. 1669/70; dated collars, principal rafters, purlin & Queens strut. Storeyed stone-built house, with rear stair-tower. House 4 has 1671 stone date inscription

Detached cowhouse of 3 bays with down slope siting. 2 tie-beam trusses

have lapped apexes.

1756   Ty Fry, Penrhyndeudraeth, Mer.

 PHASE 2 Late 2 unit fully-storeyed house of Snowdonia type. C18 modifications. Phase 1 undated; (?lateC16) gable-end chimney, window in mural stair

1759  Garreg Fawr barn, Llanfrothen, Mer. Snowdonia type farmhouse of 4 bays – failed to date. Dated 2-bay associated cottage-like bakehouse with lapped collar-beam trusses.

1760-66 Hafoty, Croesor, Mer.

Storeyed farmhouse-cottage; two unit front range with rear service wing. Large

kitchen end- fireplace with arched beam. Trusses of upper-cruck type with lapped “wavy” collars set on roughly chamfered beams. Graffiti date of 1773 on fireplace beam.       

1571 Gardd Llygad y dydd, Nantmor, Caerns.

2 unit down-hill sited storeyed farmhouse of Snowdonian type with C18 wing. Unobtrusive date inscription of 1571 (perhaps 1579) at the entry, initially regarded as not authentic, is consistent with the tree-ring dates. A 1723 (or 1725) inscription may date the alterations.

1572 Rhos, Minffordd, Mer.

Snowdonian house probably of earlier origin. Fragment of undated cruck blade is visible in outer room. Original large gable end fireplace, but C19 parlour. C19 stairs replace earlier stair in hall/kitchen indicated by trimmer beam. Morticed collar of visible truss now removed.

1579  Cae’n y Coed Uchaf, Maentwrog, Mer.

Storeyed stone-built classic 2-unit Snowdonian type; end chimney, mural stair, post & panel partition; timber diamond-mullioned window to hall, plain mullioned window to service room & chamber over hall; heavy trusses with morticed collar beams & trenched purlins.
